Back in January, when the Google Wallet and Android Pay were unified to the Google Pay platform, Phali Bhat, the VP for payments at Google, said that the company would soon announce changes for the Tez app too. The Tez accounts for nearly 50 million transactions per month, and so has become the most popular app for UPI besides Paytm and Phonepe. As the Indian government is on full-fledged preparation for an improved version of UPI, the deeper integration of the Tez with pre-installed framework can bring more Indians closer to the UPI payments. Google also allows users in the US to withdraw money from NFC-enabled ATMs by just tapping. However, there is no regulatory guideline yet for a broader rollout.
