The latest smartwatch Snapdragon Wear 3100 has been launched by Qualcomm into this Smart world to compete with the Apple watch. Qualcomm released the Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform at a launch event in San Francisco. It also revealed that it has been working closely with Google in developing this next-gen smartwatch chip. Qualcomm says that based on a new ‘ultra-low power hierarchical system architecture’, the Snapdragon Wear 3100 is designed. Moreover, this will help in delivering a rich interactive mode, an extended battery life, and enhanced always-on display functionality. It is embedded with secondary low-power chip, the Qualcomm QCC1110 and the primary MSM8909w chip.
To speak about Rich Interactive Mode, it helps in delivering high performance, smart sensing, compelling features, and superior connectivity. It is designed with two modes- traditional and sports, giving you a personalized experience. Comparing to the previous Snapdragon Wear 2100 platform, the battery life of the Snapdragon Wear 3100 is improved by around 4 to 12 hours. When the watch is in traditional watch mode, it will have a standby of close to a month. Snapdragon Wear 3100 has already started shipping to OEMs and is available in mass-production. It is embedded with three different variants-4G LTE connected, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi tethered, and GPS-based but tethered, targetting different price points and types of users.
